Man city Ready to bid world record fee for Barcelona super 🌟

Manchester City are ‘ready to pay’ Lionel Messi’s release clause in an attempt to bring the Barcelona star to the Etihad.

Pep Guardiola is targeting a reunion with his former protΓ©gΓ©, as he plots a serious title charge this season.

Messi has still not put pen to paper on a new deal at Camp Nou, and reports suggest he is holding off due to the recent sale of Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain. Barca revealed last month a contract was agreed, but Messi is still not ready to formally sign the agreement.

And Yahoo Sport France report City are ready to swoop in and bring him to England.

They are said to be ‘ready to pay’ Messi’s £275m (€300m) release clause, as they do ‘everything to buy’ the Argentina star, who turned 30 in July.

The Etihad club have spent almost £200m on recruiting first-team players this summer, bringing in Ederson from Benfica, Tottenham's Kyle Walker, Real Madrid's Danilo and Monaco pair Bernardo Silva and Benjamin Mendy.

They are interested in centre-back Jonny Evans, and have already had one £18m rejected by West Bromwich Albion.

City started their Premier League campaign with a 2-0 victory away at newly-promoted Brighton, thanks to a Sergio Aguero strike and Lewis Dunk's own goal.
