Liverpool will be without midfielder Adam Lallana for "a few months" because of thigh damage, the Premier League club declared on Friday.
The England worldwide, 29, supported the damage amid Liverpool's cordial match against Atletico Madrid in Munich on Wednesday.
"This is absolutely not news we would have needed," chief Jurgen Klopp told the Liverpool site.
"Sadly, the harm is with the end goal that it will probably mean Adam is out for a few months not weeks, so I think we can essentially discount him of August and September. Past that we will screen and sit back and watch.
"He is a kid with a world-class state of mind to everything professionally and he has dependably returned great time from damage mishaps since I have been here, so we will see."
Lallana was one of Liverpool's emerge entertainers last season, showing up and scoring eight objectives as Klopp's men secured a best four wrap up.
He stands to miss Liverpool's two-legged Champions League playoff against Hoffenheim and also group amusements against Watford, Crystal Palace, Arsenal, Manchester City, Burnley and Leicester City.
