Ikechukwu Ezenwa has got the nod to start between the sticks for Nigeria when they play hosts to Cameroon in a 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifying match in Uyo this Friday.
Nigeria head coach Gernot Rohr revealed that FC Ifeanyiubah goalkeeper Ezenwa will start after Daniel Akpeyi failed to recover from an injury after partaking in training on Tuesday.
"Daniel hasn't recovered so the goalkeeper who plays in Nigeria will start the game," hinted Rohr on Wednesday.
Plateau United and former Nigeria youth international Dele Ajiboye has been called up as late replacement for Akpeyi.
The injury to Akpeyi and non-availability of Carl Ikeme recently diagnosed of leukaemia as well as Vincent Enyeama's premature retirement highlight Nigeria's goalkeeping worries.
Ezenwa has been behind in the pecking order with Carl Ikeme who was recently got diagnosed for leukaemia and Akpeyi ahead of him.
The former Sunshine Stars stopper has however been the number one for the CHAN team.
